Abstract
The interrelation between economics prosperity and maritime strategy goes far back in history, such as the battle on New Orleans in the American Civil War. Its location near the mouth of the Mississippi River made the city an important and early target of the Union Army, which occupied the city for much of the war, eliminating its vital status as a port for export of cotton. Now a day, the globalization causes information to move in the speed of light (internet) and almost all goods are transferred across the ocean in gigantic Carrier. Energy is the fuel of the economy whereas nuclear energy is also a potential source of our destruction. In this lecture, we examine and analyze the challenges we face in keeping the fragile balance between economics prosperity and maritime strategy as part of our homeland security.
